Obituary Condolences

WALASIK
FRANK J., JR.
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Frank J. Walasik, Jr., announces his passing after a long and courageous battle against colon cancer, in his home on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the age of 48 years. Frank was born July 30, 1963, the eldest son of Frank and Gladys Schultz Walasik, Sr. of Scott Township, PA. Frank is a 1981 graduate of Chartiers Valley High School. He later attended CCAC and the University of Pittsburgh where he continued his education. Throughout his career, Frank worked as a mechanical engineer, electrician, and carpenter. In his early years, he was employed at the former Star Lake music venue. He was a member of the IASTE Local 489, where he built movie sets for Hollywood blockbuster films. Frank's favorite movie sets included Hoffa, Striking Distance and Shawshank Redemption. Frank was also a member of the Carpenters Local Union 142 for fifteen years. He devoted his skills and talents to the construction industry throughout the Pittsburgh area. It is with pride that Frank felt most at home while working alongside his comrades at Burchick Construction Company, Inc. "The water's edge is within his soul," and cherished times spent with his family on the sandy Atlantic shores will forever be warmly remembered. Frank's enthusiasm and love of motorcycles, cars, hunting and fishing remain treasured gifts within our hearts, along with the much-loved stories of the "big one" that got away. Frank will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life Marcy, his cherished wife of 25 years; and his most beloved children, Amanda, Anthony, Jonathan, and Jessica Walasik, of South Fayette Township. Frank will also be fondly remembered by his brothers Donald Walasik, of West Mifflin, PA, Terry Walasik of Avella, PA; and mother-in-law, Virginia Handerhan Hohn of Carnegie, PA. He leaves behind numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a community full of treasured friends, who all held a special place within his heart and life. A visitation in loving memory of Frank will be held Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Scott Twp. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that memorial donations be made in loving memory of Frank to "The Walasik Family Fund", PNC Bank of Oakdale, 105 Seminary Avenue, Oakdale, PA 15071.
