Obituary Condolences

WOLFE SUZANNE O.
Died November 23 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, aged 89. She is survived by two sons, Peter Rice Wolfe of Los Angeles, California, and Thomas Cox Wolfe (Sally Silk) of Roseville, Minnesota; and two granddaughters, Julia and Madeleine Wolfe. Her husband of 54 years, Charles Holmes Wolfe, Jr., predeceased her in 2005. Mrs. Wolfe was born in 1923 in Pittsburgh to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Miller Offill, Sr. She grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania. After graduation from the Ellis School for Girls, she attended Bryn Mawr College and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a degree in journalism in 1945. After this, she worked for several years in radio advertising and production in both New York and Los Angeles. Returning to Pittsburgh in 1950, she married and raised her family. In the late 1960s, she returned to school and earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She was for many years the head librarian of the Shady Side Academy Junior School. She was an active member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Shadyside, and was the church archivist. She wrote the definitive book on the history of the church and its pastors. In addition to her immediate family and many Pittsburgh friends, she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elinor Offill; two nieces and a nephew, and many grand and great- grandnephews and nieces. A reception in her memory will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church, 315 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh on Friday, November 30 at 10 a.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Calvary Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow immediately in Allegheny Cemetery.
