78, a resident of Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg, PA passed away peacefully on March 2, 2013 at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA. Born March 21, 1934 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Marius and Agnes (Rantucci) Santicola, Sr. "Santy" as he was referred to by family and friends graduated from Oakmont High School in 1952. He accepted a football scholarship to Michigan State University. He graduated from Thiel College in 1957. Santy married Mimi (Bucco) and upon graduation began a career of teaching and coaching at Wilmerding, Arnold and Saltsburg High Schools. He joined the World Book division of Field Enterprises in 1963 and enjoyed a successful career. Over the years, his work with World Book took him to Connecticut, Chicago, Indiana, Michigan and Nova Scotia. Santy was an avid sports fan and followed his favorite teams with vigor. He was also everyone's favorite uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mimi (Bucco) Santicola. He is survived by his wife, Jan (Henning) Santicola of Chicago; two sons, Ronald and daughter-in-law, Darcee of Highland Beach, FL and Jeffery and daughter-in-law, Tracie of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Gina Beaver and son-in-law, Bruce of Butler and Katie Migliorosi and son-in-law, Michael of Chicago, IL; his four beloved grandchildren, Vincent, Samuel, and Augusta Beaver, all of Butler, and Marina Santicola of Chicago, IL; a sister, Judy Leger and brother-in-law, Sonny of Oakmont, PA; three brothers, Ronald Santicola and sister-in-law, Martha of Hunter, NY, Henry Santicola and sister-in-law, Marianne of Myrtle Beach, SC and Butch Santicola and sister-in-law, April of Moon Twp., PA; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, 501 Cathedral St., Saltsburg, PA 15681. Interment will be in the St. Matthews Church Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Santy may be made to Thiel College, Office of College Advancement, 75 College Ave., Greenville, PA 16125.
