Obituary Condolences

Age 90, of Florida, formerly of Gibsonia and Cranberry Township, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 while under the care of Cape Coral Hospital. Born March 10, 1923 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Daniel D. and Ida (Drum) Coennen. Mr. Coennen proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. For over 30 years, he worked for Foodland and also worked for A & P Grocery for 16 years. He was a member of the VFW in Mars, the American Legion in Pittsburgh, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks on the North Side. Mr. Coennen was an avid golfer who also enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie K. Coennen of North Fort Myers, FL; his five children, Louise Ritter of Darlington, Cathy Nowak and her husband, Ray, of Cranberry Township, Ed Coennen and his wife, Donna, of Farmington, New Mexico, Joe Coennen and his wife, Karen, of Cranberry Township and Carol Davis and her husband, Chuck, of Cranberry Township; his sister, Ida Cannon of Gibsonia; his eight grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren with one on the way; his four stepdaughters; his eight step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence H. Coennen, who passed away on March 16, 2000 and his half-brother, Edward Coennen. The Coennen family will welcome friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 130 Wisconsin Avenue, Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Township, with the Father John Gallagher as celebrant. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery in Gibsonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor in support of the , 777 Penn Center Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Coennen family at:
