Dearly loved husband and father, Leonard Kubiak, Sr., passed away on April 6, 2013 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Zuccarini Kubiak; his sons Leonard Jr. (Nadine Kertis) and Michael (Irma DeAngelis); his grandchildren Molly Kubiak Baumgardner, Clifton, Katherine and Kirsten Kubiak; his brothers Gerald and Richard Kubiak; and his sister Dolores Baldwin of Erie, PA. He was predeceased by his dear son Samuel; mother Rose; father Michael; and brothers Joseph, Bernard, Edward and Chester. Len was an All-State Football Quarterback recruited by the legendary Bear Bryant of the University of Kentucky. He later transferred to his beloved Duquesne University where he also played Quarterback and received his Bachelor's Degree in History. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers, but instead chose to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1953 when he retired as Captain. Len received his Masters of Education at the University of West Virginia. He later became Principal of Peabody High School which he enjoyed until his retirement in 1988. Len always loved reading, singing, dancing at the PAA, watching Sports, coaching his sons Little League baseball teams and spending time with his grandchildren at the beach. Len will truly be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at McCABE BROS., INC. FUNERAL HOME, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., where Funeral will commence on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 45th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sacred Heart Parish (310 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206).
