ROBERT "BOB" CROOKSTON Obituary
CROOKSTON
ROBERT "BOB"
Of Pittsburgh, PA, beautiful husband and father, a man who truly did it his way, passed away in Summerville, SC, on April 12, 2013, at the age of 76. Bob is survived by his family, Sandra, his best friend and loving wife of 43 years; and his much loved daughter, Cynthia Ann Crookston; his surviving brothers, HB Lawson, Joseph Lawson, William Crookston, and their respective families also mourn his loss. Bob was incredibly witty, charismatic, and kind, cherished by his family and will be so greatly missed. Bob was born in Pittsburgh on January 22, 1937, first son of the late Harriet Friday Crookston and Robert R. Crookston. Bob joined the Navy at age 18 and often regaled his family with stories of far flung ports of call and adventures on the high seas long after he completed his eight years in the service. He began his career in the textile industry and went on to be an industrial engineer and manager for the likes of Grumman Aerospace and Cummins and was a member of the IIE before eventually retiring in Summerville, SC. He adored his beloved wife, Sandra, whom he affectionately called Sandy. They could always make each other laugh and their daughter admired and was in awe of their beautiful bond. Bob will be laid to rest Monday, April 22, at Calvary Cemetery, 718 Hazelwood Avenue, in Pittsburgh. The service will take place at 1 p.m. at the Our Lady of the Rosary Mausoleum. Following the service, there will be a remembrance of his life and fellowship with his family at The Elbow Room on 5533 Walnut Street.
