Obituary Condolences

Slippery Rock, PA, age 69, beloved husband, father, teacher and artist passed away suddenly after a tragic accident on Monday, June 3, 2013. He was born December 12, 1943 to Alvin and Evelyn Pereboom Brunken. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. He did a year of graduate study in lithography at the University of New Mexico and got his MFA from Wichita State University. He was Professor Emeritus at Slippery Rock University where he taught printmaking, drawing and painting for forty years. His art has been shown in national and international exhibitions/ competitions. He was chosen as a Pittsburgh Master Artist at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Cyndie (Childs); son, Bill(Alex McNeill); stepdaughters, Vanessa (Richard) Doughty, Patty (Adam) Davidson; stepson, Adam Revelant; four brothers, Alan (Murizah), Dean (Kathy), Jere (Eva), Gary Brunken and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2013, 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 8, 2013, 10 -11 a.m. with a service to follow in the J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., New Castle, PA 111 West Falls St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Slippery Rock Foundation, 100 Old Main, 1 Morrow Way, Slippery Rock, PA 16057 with Glen Brunken in the memo line.
