JOHN J. "JAKE"
On Monday, September 9, 2013, age 85, of West Homestead, formerly of Greenfield. Devoted husband of 63 years to Mary Jane "Corky" (Corcoran) Carr; loving father of Donna (Chris) Benko, Deborah Carr, James (Joann) Carr, Edward (Gail) Carr, Thomas (Ann) Carr, Jane (Joseph) Villella, and Patricia (Thomas) Wierzba; son of the late James and Mary (Fleckenstein) Carr; loving brother of Amelia Hoerle, Agnes Seltmann, Jayne Hunt, and Catherine (Kitty) Connelly; brother-in-law of John "Jack" (Ginny) Corcoran and Thomas "Bud" (Nancy) Corcoran; also survived by 17 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jake was a retired City of Pittsburgh Firefighter where he was stationed at Engine Co. #13 in Hazelwood for most of his career. He also worked for the Monongahela Connecting Railroad. Jake was, in his words, "obsessed with the game of golf" and known to many golfers at his beloved Schenley Park Golf Course. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Friends will be received Wed. 6-8 p.m., Thurs. 2-8 p.m. in the EDWARD P. KANAI FUNERAL HOME, 500 Greenfield Ave. Funeral Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass in St. Rosalia Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Rosalia Church.
