Age 73, of Murrysville, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Joy Richardson; father of Simon (Ingrid) Moore of Allentown, PA and Catherine (Lance) Mitchell of Broadlands, VA; grandfather of Derrick and Julia Moore and Emma Mitchell; also survived by his extended family. Michael was born in York, England, son of the late Frank and Violet (Richardson) Moore. He earned his undergraduate degree in 1962 and Ph.D. in 1966 in metallurgical engineering from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London. In 1996, he retired from U.S. Steel research as a Technical Director after 30 years of service. Michael enjoyed golfing, sailing, and following the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a docent at Henry Clay Frick's home "Clayton", he shared his love of the house and Pittsburgh history. He had a great affection for his fellow docents and the Frick staff. Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. on Monday at MAURICE L. KNEE, LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Rd. (across from S & T Bank), Plum, PA 15239.
