JOSEPH LIGGETT Obituary
85, of Churchill, passed on Monday, October 14, 2013. Born October 11, 1928 in Huff, PA, son of the late Hugh P. and Lillian (Graff) Liggett; devoted husband of the late Nancy (Sutter) Liggett; loving father of Susan Fox (Dr. Hans Fuchs) of Leetsdale, PA, Scott (Louann) Liggett of Hilton Head, SC and Mark Liggett of Charleston, SC; beloved "Gars" of Nathaniel and Miriam Fox and Parker and Mallory Liggett; brother of Ada Lu English of Middletown, DE and the late John Liggett. Joe was a veteran of the Korean War as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force, a General Surgeon and former Chief of Staff at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, a member of Hebron United Presbyterian Church in Penn Hills, the Pitcairn- Monroeville Sportsmen's Club, a former member of the Edgewood Club in Churchill. He enjoyed golfing and shooting sports. Visitation will be on Friday from 10-11 a.m. in the Hebron United Presbyterian Church, 10460 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment private in the Hebron United Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the Hebron United Presbyterian Church or doctorswithoutborders.org in his memory. Arrangements by COPELAND FUNERAL HOME, Sewickley, PA.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I did many cases with Dr Liggett in the OR at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. He was a pleasure to work with.

I knew Dr. Liggett from working as an RN in Forbes Metro Hospital. He was always a gentleman and also could make us laugh. I was sorry to hear of his passing. He was a fine surgeon.
