S. BACKUS Obituary
Unexpectedly on Sat., Dec. 20, 2014, age 56,of Monroeville, fondly called "Bobby". He was the son of the late Samuel Robert Backus and Rosina Kenyon Backus. Bobby was the loving companion of Jacquie Folkmire; cherished father of Robert Anthony Backus and Dana Rose Backus; also survived by the mother of his children, Leanna DeCenzo Backus; devoted brother of Sally Backus Wickstrom and her husband, Gus and the late Frank K. Backus. Bobby was adored by his nieces and nephews and had a wide circle of friends, many of whom referred to him as "The Man In Black". He had a quick wit and penchant to help others. Friends will be received at the JAMES F. FILIA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 354 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding on Tues. from 2-8 p.m. An informal Service of Remembrance will begin at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to the family.

So very sorry to hear about Bobby. I haven't seen Bobby in many years. I remember being their babysitter when the kids were babies and lived in Apartments in Monroeville. He was a good man that always seemed to have a smile on his face!

Dear Sally, Gus and Family...I am so sorry for the passing of my dear departed friend...times like this force you to reflect back on life...Bob was my closest and best childhood friend...there is not a memory of my youth that doesn't include Bob and the Backus family...football, baseball, wiffle ball at picnics...shooting pool at the annual Christmas eve gathering... New Car Shows and Chinese food...softball...the memories are vast and bring a tear as well as a smile. Bob was a good man with a huge and true heart who would move heaven and earth to help you out when called upon...My soul is eternally grateful for the Backus/Wickstrom/Kenyon family and their witness that led my entire family as well as myself to receive the Lord. God Bless you in these sad times, and may He shine His Face upon us now and forever.
