NICHOLAS BOLKOVAC Obituary
Age 87, of Youngstown, OH, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Chaparas); cherished father of Pamela; brother of Alfred, Jack, William and the late Jake; also survived by nieces and nephews. Nick was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Geology. He attended Pitt on a football scholarship where he played tackle and was the kicker. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and then played for the Steelers in 1953 and 1954. Nick was very active in the Pitt Athletic Association, he founded the "Pitt Rocks", an organization that focused on reuniting the men who played football between 1940 and 1960. After football, he had a successful career in the insurance industry. Friends will be received on Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1032 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp., 412-364-4444. A Funeral Service will be held in St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, OH on Monday at 11 a.m. (Meet at Church). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

I was and still am a dedicated Pitt fan and have been all my life. I am 83 but as a young fan I remember Nick as one of the greatest to ever play at Pitt. I wqs very sorry to hear of his passing.

Pamela, please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your father. He had a special way about him. He could always make you smile. He was a wonderful neighbor and a trusted friend.
