JAMES "JIMMY"
Age 76, died unexpectedly October 7, 2017, at UPMC McKeesport. Born on October 21, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles and Kathryn (Blank) Beaumont and the husband of Ann Carol (Tate) Beaumont. Jimmy was the lead singer and music composer of the legendary Pittsburgh music group the Skyliners. In 1958, Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners became active on the music scene, and were best known for their 1959 hit "Since I Don't Have You." They also hit the Top 40 music charts with "This I Swear" and "Pennies From Heaven," as well as many other recordings. Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners continued to entertain with their distinct harmonies up until present day. The Skyliners were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002, and the Pittsburgh Rock'N Roll Legends Award was presented in 2016. Jimmy touched the heart and soul of many generations with his gift of music and he will be deeply missed by all. In addition to his wife, Ann Carol, he is survived by his children, Stacey (Keith) Schork, of White Oak and Christina (Scott) Shank, of Penn Twp.; grandchildren, Caleb and McKenna Schork, Brandyn, Evyn, and Ethyn Shank; as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the JAYCOX-JAWORSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, from 2 - 9 p.m. and Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 2 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2017, 10 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church, Fr. Steve Palsa will be the celebrant. Committal will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity that was dear to his heart. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142. Condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.

I knew Jimmy when as a young boy he worked at the American Water Works Co. As our mailboy. We took a shine to each other but he quit the job shortly to pursue his music. He appeared a few years back at the Cultural Center here in Ocala, Florida and I got to speak with him. He was very proud of his family.

I saw Jimmy and Group one month before he left us at the American Music Theater in Lancaster, PA and was privileged to meet the group, get a signed photo and promo for my Top Shelf Oldies.com radio show. It was a true honor coming from one of the nicest persons in the business and with a voice unequaled. He has become a part of our lives and will always be there for all.,,,this I swear... My heart felt condolences to your family. I just found out about Jimmy's passing and am so sad. He leaves with me wonderful memories about the time my husband jim and I went to see his show at the sheraton in warrendale. He kissed me on my left cheek. I just heard of his passing at the Grammy Awards on TV along with many others we lost this past year. But it was hearing that Jimmy was no longer with us that so deeply saddened me. I just looked up the obituary this evening and wanted to say we lost a great talent and reading the comments on here will be missed but NEVER forgotten. What ever happened to that movie that was being produced by Janet Vogel's son about his mom and the group? My condolences to the Beaumont family. They will be in my prayers.

Jimmy's voice will live on forever. My husband, Gordon and I saw the Skyliners at the Chicago Theatre. Their sound was electrifying throughout the theatre. Rest in peace. Now you can sing the angels to sleep with that smooth voice.

He made us so proud of his vocal talents which inspired others to try and emulate his soulful baritone-tenor voice. I strongly doubt the Skyliners can ever continue on as a viable vocal group without the uniqueness of Jimmy Beaumont?

One of the great, great groups. The Skyliners gradual fade into history and now the loss of their lead, Jimmy, brings tears to my eyes. Rarely a month goes by that I don't go to You Tube and listen again to their 1959 classic, "Since I Don't Have You" - RIP, Jimmy.

My sincerest condolences to Mr. Beaumont's family and friends.The best of the best...So many memories of my hometown Pittsburgh in the late 50's and 60's, and Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners are so much a part of them. My "kid" uncle knew Jimmy, and it was exciting times for music back then. Grateful that I saw them perform in person. Thank you Jimmy, for all the songs sung beautifully, especially Since I Don't Have You, and This I Swear.

A great singer who will be missed by all. Little known is that he was a great pool shooter and was well known in many pool halls around this area and many others. Stood in awe watching him shoot on the "reserved" table at smitty's pool hall (conviently located under Pack's cafe / bar) in Mt Oliver.

I had the honor of following the Skyliners in the 80's and 90's. My first shows was Donna Guyker's first show also. I sat there in aw....my Mom played this man's records and he I was at his show. I was going with their lead guitar player at the time. I fainted when I meet him. He sensed this and said I'm just a man, Darling. I have set thru hundred of show and get a chill when I hear the opening cords of Since. That beautiful voice and wonderful man will be missed. REST IN PEACE BEAU.

My name is Kathleen Nichols and my maiden name is Beaumont. My grandfather was Oliver Beaumont who used to tell us that Cliff Beaumont was his first cousin and all about the old Twin Coaches days. That would make Jimmy my 3rd cousin....my husband, son and I had the pleasure of seeing Jimmy at the Benedum when they celebrated an anniversary of his music and gave Jimmy the key to the City....I would have loved to have talked to him but I was afraid he'd think I was a nutcase saying that I think we are related so I didn't....just the same, I have followed his music through the years and he was awesome.....he is truly going to be missed by many.....I am so sorry for your loss....prayers to all of you.....RIP Jimmy.....heaven will be getting beautiful music.....
