Hazel Patricia "Pat" Miller, 79, longtime resident of Parker, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in the Ogden, Utah, hospital surrounded by her family following complications of a chronic illness.
Pat was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Wilford, Idaho, the daughter of Alton Eugene Bates and Alice Gretta Dot Larson Bates. She attended school in the Fremont County School District.
She married Horace Layne Miller on June 17, 1959, in St. Anthony. They made their home in Parker, where they have since resided. Mr. Miller passed away Aug. 5, 1997.
Pat was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. She worked at Fremont General Hospital and Madison Memorial Hospital for many years in food services. After she retired, she also worked in the kitchen at South Fremont High School. Pat loved being around her co-workers and the students at the high school.
Her love in life was her family, whom she loved to cook for and spend time with. She loved to go to lunch and shopping with her sisters, daughter and daughter-in-law, granddaughters and friends.
Some of her hobbies included canning food from her garden, baking bread and cinnamon rolls and reading. The last few years of her life, she had many physical challenges, all of which she endured well. She was always happy and kind to everyone.
She is survived by her children, Ross Layne (Annie McLaughlin) Miller of Gresham, Ore., Brenda Ann (LaRell) Greenhalgh of Idaho Falls and Karl Eugene (Melanie) Miller of Parker, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and her siblings; Nila Jean "Deena" (William C.) Mackert of Springfield, Va., and Larry Dee (Donna) Bates and Sheri Ann (William) Butterfield, both of St. Anthony.
