Ila Wilde Obituary

Ila Wilde, 86, former resident of Mud Lake, passed away from natural causes Monday, July 1, 2013, in Shelley.

She was born Feb. 22, 1927, to Archie and Theone Gray. She lived in York and attended schools in Osgood, Ammon and Ucon. She graduated from Ucon High School.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions until health prevented her from serving in the church.

Ila met the love of her life, Donald P. Wilde, at a dance and they were married Nov. 10, 1946, in New Sweden, Idaho. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had been married for 64 years at the time of Don's passing. They loved traveling and were members of a square dancing club.

Ila worked for Skyline IGA and City Floral. While working at City Floral, she learned to love flower arranging and developed an interest in ceramics. After the move to Mud Lake in 1970, she was able to achieve her dream of opening her own ceramic shop, Wilde Thing Ceramics.

She and Don loved to travel to Arizona with friends for the winters. She loved camping, fishing at Birch Creek, crafts and gardening.

Mom was happiest when there were grandkids to compete with and family to visit. She always had time for her grandkids and they feel very blessed she was their grandma.

Ila was a loving, caring person. She had a wonderful, honest spirit about her and never hesitated to speak her mind, which was an endearing quality to her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra (Leroy) Stevens of Kalispell, Mont., and Margie (Grant, deceased) Mecham of Idaho Falls; son, Donald (Becky) Wilde of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren; a beloved niece, Beverly (Bill, deceased) Lichtenberg of Rexburg; two sisters, Fern Warnock of Idaho Falls and Dorothy (Calvin) Hunsaker of Washington; and one brother, Lester Gray of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; granddaughter, Lacey; great-grandson, Tydon; her parents; five brothers; and one sister.

The family would like to thank all those who helped Don and Ila in their later years in the great community of Mud Lake that they called home. A special thanks to Beverly for her loving care, as well as to Troy and Josilyn Halter for taking great care of Ila in these last months.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, at West Jefferson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St. in Shelley. We invite all who wish to come to the viewing and graveside services.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
