Anna June McNeely Thomas

June Thomas, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.

June was born Jan. 12, 1924, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Roy Herbert McNeely and Merintha Elizabeth Hansen McNeely. She graduated as a cadet nurse from the LDS School of Nursing in Idaho Falls.

On June 3, 1952, she married Elwyn LaVoy Thomas in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls for the past 53 years.

June worked as a registered nurse and worked for a time as a child care provider. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, playing games and providing humanitarian service.

June is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, LaVoy Thomas of Idaho Falls; daughters, Michelle Thomas (Scott) Bell of Ogden, Utah, Roxanne Thomas (Paul) Peterson of Orem, Utah, and Jamie Thomas (Jeffery) Wheat of American Fork, Utah; sons, David LaVoy (Denise) Thomas of Ojai, Calif., and Kevin Elias (Catherine) Thomas of Anchorage, Alaska; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and a great-grandson, LaVoy Scott Bell.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at the Idaho Falls LDS Home Ranch Ward, 2051 S. Emerson Ave. (at East 21st Street and Higbee Avenue), with Bishop John Laird officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the McCammon, Idaho, cemetery.
