Beverly Larue Heyrend Jacobs was born Aug. 20, 1940, at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, to Harvey and Wilma Farnsworth Heyrend.
She died, after a lengthy illness, Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, while under hospice care in Sioux Falls, S.D.
With an avid sportsman for a father, Beverly spent many weekends on camping/fishing trips, fondly recalling her parents making one long bed on the ground for her and her brothers. While growing up, she lived in Randolf, Utah; Star Valley, Wyo.; Irwin, Idaho; and Idaho Falls.
On April 18, 1964, she married Kenneth Jacobs. Together, they raised four children: Terry (Alla) Jacobs of Idaho Falls, Timothy Jacobs of Norfolk, Va., Angela (Pete) Womack of Smithville, Mo., and Kenneth Jacobs Jr. of Sioux Falls, S.D.
As a Navy wife, she not only had to look forward to picking up and moving every few years, but also had to be mother, father, coach and anything else her children needed while their father was at sea.
One of Beverly's passions was cooking; as her son-in-law put it, "her dishes may not always taste the same, but they were always good." Beverly is survived by her husband, Ken; her mother, Wilma Heyrend; daughter, Angela; sons, Terry, Tim and Ken Jr.; five grandchildren, David Vaughan, Brandon Womack, Brianna Womack, Zachary Womack and Brian Jacobs; and one great-grandchild, Sawyer Jacobs. She is also survived by five brothers, Keith (Jolene) Heyrend, Boyd Heyrend, Fred (Debbie) Heyrend, Lewis (Terrie) Heyrend and Dan McLoud; and a sister, Jannie Heyrend.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Heyrend; and three brothers, Dennis, Jerry and Kenny.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Church of the Gate, 6820 W. 26th St. in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Burial will be in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, following a graveside service, on June 1. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, S.D.
