Carla Niemeier, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1948, in Preston, Idaho, to Glen H. Cox and Verdis Bloxham Cox, the third of seven children. She attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School.
She worked at various jobs, including 20 years at the INL. Carla retired in 2000.
She married Chris M. Niemeier on Nov. 27, 1976, in Idaho Falls.
Carla enjoyed golfing, skiing, traveling, fishing and playing bridge. For many years, she and her husband, Chris, played individual and couples events, both competitively and for pleasure. After Chris' death, she continued as many of theses activities as she could until her death.
She is survived by her brothers, Terry (Dorothy) Cox of Pocatello, Craig Cox of Pocatello, Scott Cox of Idaho Falls, Jeffry (Tamara) Cox of Rigby and Cory (Kathy) Cox of Iona; sister, Sandra (Wayne) Skelton of Irwin, Idaho; mother-in-law, Maxine Niemeier; sister-in-law, Theresa (Buddy) Walters; brothers-in-law, Paul Niemeier, Scott (Cindy) Niemeier, and Todd (Suzanne) Niemeier; 16 nieces and nephews; 38 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris; parents, Glen and Verdis Cox; and her father-in-law, Hank Niemeier.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services at the funeral home.
