James Dale Mardene Anderson, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at his home of natural causes.
Dale was born Dec. 27, 1928, to James Elmer Anderson and Katherine Bahlke Anderson, their second child and only son. Dale spent most of his childhood years in the Firth and Blackfoot areas. He also lived for a period of time as a teen in Salmon. He married Doris Moser, and together they had two daughters, Ginny and Sandy. Dale and Doris later divorced. On June 17, 1957, he married Lela Thueson in Idaho Falls. Together they had five children. Lela passed away Jan. 22, 2005.
In April of 1953, Dale joined the United States Army. During his time in the service, he was stationed in Germany for two years. He returned home and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1955.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, taking them fishing and hunting. Through the years, he worked as a brick layer, farmer and general laborer at several area potato warehouses before retiring in 2000.
Dale is survived by his children, Ronnie "Butch" Anderson, Barbara Anderson, Charlie (Dawn) Anderson, Terry Anderson and Brad Anderson, all of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughters from his first marriage, Ginny and Sandy.
Dale was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lela; his sister, Jean Allred of Utah; and both parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday and for one hour Saturday prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
