Doris Stewart

Doris Andersen Stewart, 87, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in Driggs.

Doris was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Idaho Falls, the daughter of Ede Uriah and Elizabeth Campbell Andersen. She grew up in Clawson, Idaho.

Throughout a life of dedicated service to her Father in Heaven, husband, children, family and friends, Mother maintained a brave and cheerful outlook and optimistic future, even through many difficult health challenges.

She married Earl William Stewart after he returned from World War II. They were married in Butte, Mont., and the marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Aug. 18, 1981. They raised their family in Tetonia, Idaho. With her husband, she raised five children and was involved in their lives and continued full support throughout the rest of her life. Mr. Stewart passed away in February 1996.

Filled with compassion and interest in serving the Lord, Doris served in the Primary, where she had a big influence on the lives of many children in the community. She also filled many other church positions over the years, always giving 110 percent.

Doris loved fishing, golfing and crossword puzzles and was good with numbers and games. But mostly she loved the church and fulfilling her callings.

Doris is survived by her children, Cheryl (Kyle) Tonks of Victor, Earl Craig (Sandra Smith) Stewart of Darby, Idaho, Rowena (Mike) Beard of Shelley, James "Bill" William (Patty) Stewart of Victor and Stacy (Cheryl) Stewart of Driggs; 27 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank everyone for your kind words and prayers on her behalf. A special thanks to Sue Beard, hospice nurse, and family members whose caring heart and special talents brought peace and love to our family. A special thank you to Teton Peaks Assisted Living and the Teton Valley Hospital staff for serving our community so well.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in the Victor LDS church with Bishop Val Kunz officiating. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday, both times at the church. Burial will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery under the direction of Bidwell Funeral Home.
