Douglas Deloy Bench, 45, of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at his home after fighting a valiant and final battle with colon cancer.
He was born Nov. 18, 1967, in Idaho Falls, the first son of three children born to Francis Deloy Bench and Helen Renee Bench. He graduated from Snake River High School in 1986, where he was a state wrestling champion. During his wrestling career, he developed a unique move called the ankle pik.
He married Stephanie Watt on March 8, 1986. Together they raised three wonderful sons: Zachary, Kaleb and Brock.
He later married Jennifer Hatfield on Nov. 21, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Bench of Blackfoot; sons, Zachary (Brittni) Bench, Kaleb Bench, Brock Bench and Brendon Hatfield; daughters, Faith and Hope Hatfield; and grandson, McCray, all of Blackfoot; mother, Renee Bench of Blackfoot; father, Francis Deloy Bench of Brigham City, Utah; sister, Lisa (Bob) Pankau of Aberdeen, Idaho; and brother, David (Susan) Bench of Moreland, Idaho.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Blackfoot Stake Center, 1650 Highland Drive in Blackfoot, with Bishop Quinn Twiggs conducting. The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot, and Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the stake center. Interment will be in Moreland Cemetery.
