Eli Lloyd Simmons passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho.
He was born Nov. 5, 1977, to Garfield Simmons and Sherry Bushong. He attended schools in Idaho Falls and Butte, Mont., and later attended and graduated from Gilbert High in Arizona and went to college on a football scholarship.
He was an avid sports fan and fisherman, beloved father and son, and a true Notre Dame fan. He was known for his dynamic sense of humor and antics and was a good friend and loved by many.
In 2001, Eli married the love of his life, Hillari Gomez, and they had a beautiful daughter, Destri Alizabeth Simmons. They were later divorced.
He worked for Albertsons in both Idaho Falls and Twin Falls and later worked in construction.
Survivors include his mother, Sherry Bushong; father, Garfield Simmons; daughter, Destri Simmons; aunt, Laurie Eldredge; cousins, Joe Lappi, Melissa Eldredge, Alicia Hurlburt, Niel Welsh and Scott Welsh; and best friend, Edward L. Snider II (Dito).
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Carl Thornock; grandmother, Bonnie Martin; uncle, Chad Thornock; aunt, Lorraine Welsh; cousins, Tony Lappi and John Thornock; and half brother, Gar Rosenleaf.
My precious child We loved you and never left you during your times of trials and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footsteps, it was then that the Lord carried you through your journey home.
If love could have saved you you would have lived forever but you were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. R.I.P. our beautiful Eli.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and ICU nurses at St. Luke's Hospital in Twin Falls.
There will be a life celebration at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Pinecrest Bowling Alley, 640 E. Elva St. Burial will take place at a later date.
