Elizabeth L. Collins, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Henryette, Okla., to Arthur and Inez L. Janeway Cole. She was raised in Oklahoma and El Paso, Texas. She worked for Texas and New Orleans Railroad Company at the time of her graduation from El Paso High School.
She served in the Waves of the U.S. Navy as a Specialist 2nd Class in World War II.
On Jan. 24, 1947, she married John I. Collins Jr. in Wilmington, Calif. She moved from El Paso, Texas, to Idaho Falls in 1958. She worked for Argonne West for 27 years. She moved to Irwin in 1969, where she was active in the American Legion. She retired in Hope, N.M., where she was active in community affairs and was a CASA Volunteer at 80 years old.
She and her husband moved back to Idaho Falls in 2010 to be close to her family.
She loved to play tennis, go out to eat and to go shopping. Everything from the sky to the ocean was pretty! She would wake you in the middle of the night to say "come look at how pretty the moon is." Liz was very sweet and intelligent and was the most giving lady. She was a true Christian with a warm heart and an open mind.
Survivors include her husband, John I. Collins of Idaho Falls; son, John O. (Michelle McNamee) Collins of White Bird; daughter, Nancy (Nick) Wade of Rigby; grandsons, Shane (Heather) Collins and Kelly Collins, of Corvallis, Ore.; granddaughter, Wendy Wade (Paul) Colwell of Boise; brother, Jim (June) Dungan of Rigby; sister-in-law, Emmie Collins of El Paso, Texas; and many nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart and soul! She was preceded in death by her mother; father; stepfather, Charles Dungan; and sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Tex Haynie.
