Irene Hofhine, 72, our sweet wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Meridian, Idaho, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.
She was born in 1940 in Blackfoot, Idaho, the daughter of Charles and LaVerne Hatch. She graduated from Firth High School in 1958.
In 1961 she married her high school sweetheart, Paul H. Hofhine. They lived in numerous places including Utah, Idaho, California, and 20 years in Mesa, Ariz. They raised four children.
Irene loved to be with her family, for whom she had complete love and devotion. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved to travel, especially with her family and her extended family. She enjoyed nature, especially bird-watching.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We will always cherish the memories we have with this sweet, beautiful woman. She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul; her children, Susan (Paul) Dykman, Teresa (Regan) Eardley, Michelle (Robert) Kelleher, and Steven (Sarah) Hofhine; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Lambert; brother, Charles Hatch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Eardley; and brother, Alan Smith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the LDS Church Building on Amity and Locust Grove in Meridian. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday before services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel in Boise.
