Jeanette Kinghorn Mathews, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at her home.
She was born May 12, 1939, in Pocatello to Dean Morton Kinghorn and Lela Stallings Kinghorn. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1957. She attended Idaho State University and received her associate degree.
Jeanette married Norman Lawson on Dec. 26, 1959, and together they had five children. They were later divorced.
She married Boyd Mathews on June 2, 1989, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He passed away Jan. 8, 2011.
She was a homemaker and a mother, and worked as a hairdresser. Jeanette also worked at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Jeanette enjoyed arts and crafts and oil painting, making quilts and scrapbooking. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jeannette is survived by her sons, Kirk (Tracy) Lawson of Farr West, Utah, Steve (Julie) Lawson of Idaho Falls, Jerry Lawson of Draper, Utah, Jason (Tenille) Lawson of Idaho Falls, and Bruce (Kim) Mathews of Idaho Falls; daughters, Kristine Davis (Brad) Stark, Becky Walz and Bonnie (Mark) Peterson, all of Idaho Falls, and Beverly (Kenneth) Whetstone of West Valley, Utah; brothers, Gary Kinghorn of Post Falls, Idaho, and David Kinghorn of Forrestville, Calif.; twin sister, Jean O Brien Campbell of Idaho Falls; sisters, Janie Wilcox and Marilynn Davis, both of Pocatello; 38 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Lela Kinghorn; sister, Kay Koontz and her husband Boyd Mathews; and her great-granddaughter, Gracie May Homer.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Boulevard LDS Ward Chapel, 351 W. 14th St. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery.
