Leon Leroy Gardner, 59, of Schertz, Texas, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Silver Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Leon was born Nov. 1, 1954, in Cleveland to Lemar Gardner and Elizabeth Betty Carter Gardner. He attended Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
Leon lived in Albuquerque N.M.; Anchorage, Alaska; and Idaho Falls. He moved to Schertz, Texas, in June 2013 to be near family and friends.
On Sept. 4, 1981, he married Thomie Lee Fleming, in Anchorage, Alaska. Together they raised two children.
He enjoyed racing remote control cars, participating in sports and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Thomie Gardner of Idaho Falls; daughter, Tanya Baldwin of Idaho Falls; son, Leon Gardner Jr. of Idaho Falls; grandson, DeAndre Griffin; mother, Elizabeth Betty Howell of Schertz, Texas; brother, Lemar Gardner of Converse, Texas; and sisters, LaDonna Foster of Cibolo, Texas, and Jackie Lyn Gardner McCoy of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lemar Gardner Sr., and his brother, Larry Gardner.
A gathering for family and friends will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Jones residence, 225 Here-ford St. in Cibolo, Texas.
