Marvin Vance Douglass(1954 - 2014)

Marvin Vance Douglass, 60, of Menan, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at his home.

He was born Feb. 1, 1954, in Rigby to Fred Allen Douglass and Dorla Elizabeth Burnside Douglass. He was raised and attended schools in Annis, Menan, Midway and Roberts and graduated from Rigby High School.

On Aug. 12, 1977, he married Colleen Olsen in Menan. They later divorced.

Vance worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and for the city of Rigby Police Department. For the past 30 years, he worked for Tractor Sales as a mechanic in Idaho Falls and retired three years ago.

Vance was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his mother, Dorla Douglass of Annis; sons, Michael Fred (Lyndsey) Douglass of Idaho Falls and Matt Louis Douglass of Rigby; grandchildren, Presley Ann Douglass, Damien Louis Douglass and Drake Michael Douglass; sisters, Maureen (Carl) Stone of Elkridge, Utah, Tana Quinton of Archer, Debra (David) Swager of Rigby and LaNae Hope of Idaho Falls; and brothers, Royce (Lesa) Douglass of Lewisville and Tim (Suzanne) Douglass of Annis.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
