Nina Wadsworth(1920 - 2014)

Nina Norton Wadsworth, 94, of St. George, Utah, formerly of Ammon, died peacefully Sunday, March 9, 2014, in Las Vegas from natural causes while surrounded by her family.

Nina was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Shelley, the oldest child of Henry Lorenzo Norton and Lavinia Hurst Norton. She grew up and attended schools in Zurich and Chinook, Mont., and Declo, Idaho.

On Sept. 5, 1940, she married Vaughn Arnold Wadsworth in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in several areas of southeastern Idaho, as well as in St. George, Utah.

Nina was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She served as ward Relief Society president, stake Young Women president and Cub Scout leader, among many assignments; even at age 92, she was a Relief Society teacher. She and her husband, Vaughn, also served together as missionaries in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission from 1981 to 1983.

Nina's life was defined by unending service. She loved others and was dearly loved by all who ever met her. She developed an awe-inspiring talent for making and decorating beautiful cakes of all kinds, including birthday, special occasion and wedding cakes. She catered for and served in several community groups, the music club and other social and family events. Nina also adored flowers and gardening and could make nearly anything grow and thrive in any soil or climate, from the harsh winters of eastern Idaho to the blistering heat of St. George.

She had a quick and delightful wit, an unwavering faith, was infectiously optimistic, ever grateful, and had a magnetic personality that drew people to her instantly. All of her family and friends were made to feel that each was her favorite.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Kenneth (Carol) Wadsworth of Sedalia, Colo., Kaye (Larry) Whiting of Bountiful, Utah, Jerald (Connie) Wadsworth of Irwin, Idaho, Ann (Tom) Fenton of Estes Park, Colo., Kathryn (Lon) Huls of Iona, Bradley (Christine) Wadsworth of Las Vegas, David (Sherry) Wadsworth of Las Vegas and Lori (Jeffrey) Roberts of Boise; sisters, Evva Nebel of Rexburg, Donna Okelberry of Declo, Idaho, and Joan Wilson of Portland, Ore.; brother, Wallace Henry Norton of Lindon, Utah; 44 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
