Nola Dustin Harris, 85, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, in the St. Anthony Homestead Assisted Living Center from natural causes.
Nola was born Dec. 5, 1927, at Chapin, Idaho, the daughter of Norma Dustin and Johanna Mafilda Catherine Anderson Dustin. She grew up on the family farm in Bates, Idaho. She attended her elementary schooling in a two-room school in Bates. She graduated from Teton High School in Driggs. She attended Idaho State University in Pocatello.
She married Shirley H. "Shirl" Harris on Jan. 4, 1951, at her parents' home in Bates. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Cache, Idaho; Driggs; Colter Bay, Wyo.; Bull Frog, Utah; Salt Lake City; Overton, Nev.; and Parker, Idaho. Mr. Harris died Dec. 22, 1998.
Nola was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City from 2002 to 2003. She loved to quilt, crochet, read, travel, hike and take horseback rides. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Belinda (Don) Griggs of Sugar City, Idaho, and Keith S. (Teresa) Harris of Las Vegas; a brother, Joel Dustin of Vernal, Utah; a sister, LaDessa Smith of Lake Oswego, Ore.; grandchildren, Zach (Michele) Griggs of Teton, Idaho, Bradi (Benjamin) Schriever of Clearfield, Utah, Shannon (Brian) Smith of Las Vegas and Hollee Harris of Afton, Wyo.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, in the Teton LDS Church with Bishop Blair Poulsen officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Burial will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery under the direction of Bidwell Funeral Home.
