Thelma Joyce Morrison

Thelma Joyce Thomas Morrison passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at St. Al's Hospital in Boise after a valiant 21/2-year fight with breast cancer.

She was born June 3, 1944, in Denver. She attended eight years at Holy Rosary School and was a 1962 graduate of Idaho Falls High School.

She served in the U.S. Air Force until her marriage to Carl Ronald Morrison, also an Air Force veteran. Their tours included Spain and Germany and U.S. bases. They divorced in 1988 but remained close friends while raising their four children: Alexia, Brett, Doug and Paul.

Joyce graduated from Boise State in 1995 and remained a lifelong student of history and women's studies. She volunteered for countless organizations and became interested in studying ancestry on her mother's side.

She was a loving grandmother to her three granddaughters: Kierrea, McKenna and Lauren. Camping at Willow Creek Campground at Featherville was the highlight of summertime.

She has three sisters, Jalene Evans of Idaho Falls, Janet Clanton of Idaho Falls and Christine Serafin of Bartlesville, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Vearl Dalling; all of her grandparents; and her youngest son, Paul Allen Morrison.

By her request, she was cremated and interred in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of funeral services, there will be a celebration of life held next summer.

She wished any donations be made to Mountain States Tumor Institute for Children at St. Luke's in Boise.

Thanks to all family and friends for creating lifelong memories. She was loved and will be missed.
