Verdale E. Hill(1933 - 2013)

Verdale E. Hill, 80, of Ririe, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls.

He was born June 16, 1933, in Garfield, Idaho, a son of Howard Hill and Bertha Billman Hill. He grew up and attended schools in Independence and Burton, graduating from Madison High School. Verdale served with the U.S. Army in the United States and Germany and specialized as a crane operator.

On Dec. 15, 1953, he married Bonnie Lou Hill in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He farmed in the Rigby and Ririe areas throughout his life.

Verdale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a home teacher. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lou Hill of Rigby; daughters, Brenda (Lou) Fullerton of Rigby and Loretta Johnson of Idaho Falls; sons, Ivan Hill and Blair (Cara) Hill, both of Rigby; brothers, Merlin (Bernice) Hill of Idaho Falls and Larry (Shirley) Hill of Lorenzo; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bruce Hill.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Perry Ward Building in Ririe, with Bishop Justin Miller conducting. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, prior to services, both times at the church. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
