Vern Gould(1933 - 2014)

Vern Albert Gould departed this world for greener pastures Friday, July 11, 2014. He was 80 years young.

He was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Newdale, Idaho, to Water Chester and Alta Ida Davis Gould. Vern was a native Idaho son who lived the majority of his life in Teton City, three miles from his birthplace. He attended school in Newdale, Sugar-Salem and the school of hard knocks.

He was a veteran, as he proudly served his country during the Korean War.

He will be remembered for his colorful personality, his honesty, generosity and hard work ethic.

Vern leaves behind his wife, Colleen; as well as two daughters, Sandra (John) Bazovsky and Joslyn Gould; a grandson, Cortney (Ythzel) Gillett; a granddaughter, Karlie Sadorus; one great-grandson, Blade Sadorus; four sisters; and three brothers.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kara Jo; his parents; and four brothers.

His success as a farmer is well-known. He loved his work and was always happy to share his knowledge with others.

Vern enjoyed his retirement years; he fished, played golf and spent time with family and friends. He had hoped that when he passed on, it would be to a place where the golf courses are challenging, the fish are biting, and of course, where the crops are green and plentiful. He wanted to thank all who shared the journey, and to tell you, he "will save you a spot at the pinochle table."

As per Vern's request, there will not be a funeral. However, a celebration of his life will take place in the near future, and of course it will be in true Vern Gould style.

The family would like to express their gratitude to his medical team and OneSource Hospice for the exceptional care they provided, especially to Lauren, who helped the family get through such a difficult time. Vern's final care was entrusted to Bert Flamm Mortuary.
