Victor Alan Beahm, 58, died early Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at his home in Mankato, Minn., after a three-year battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 21, 1955, in Jerome, Idaho. He lived and grew up in Idaho Falls until he enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 18. He served three years in the Marine Corps, during which he spent the majority of his time stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, N.C.
After he was discharged from the Marine Corps, he moved to Mankato, Minn., married Judy on July 22, 1978, and resided there until his death.
"Al," as he was better known by his friends and family, was a fun-loving man of the community. He was an enthusiastic hockey player and fan as well as an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He cherished his time with friends and family and will be missed by all.
Al is survived by his children, Aaron and Emily Beahm of Mankato, Minn.; their mother, Judy Beahm of Mankato, Minn.; his mother, Margaret Beahm of Idaho Falls; brothers, Doug Beahm of Idaho Falls and Paul Beahm of Rigby; and a sister, Linda Rohweder of Idaho Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Beahm, and a sister, Diane Bronson of Idaho Falls.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with the Rev. Tim Biren officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive in North Mankato, Minn. There also will be a visitation Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place Wednesday, Dec. 11, in Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis. The burial will be a closed service reserved for family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
