Wade A. Zollinger

Wade A. Zollinger, 71, son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend to all, returned home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, due to a farming accident.

Wade was born Sept. 19, 1942, to Dean Walters and Glenna Inez (Archibald) Zollinger in Rexburg. He was the oldest of six brothers. He graduated from Sugar-Salem High School and attended Ricks College.

Wade was an avid basketball player in his younger years. He showed Appaloosa horses in the Western states of Wyoming, Montana, Utah and Idaho. He later moved on to his love of quarter horses and was one of the first riders with the Upper Valley Wranglers. He loved his quarter horses and developed a career out of his greatest joy, ranching. He worked for Clemence Ranch, Dr. Harlow Rigby, Davenport Hatchery, Roger Brothers, and retired as an Idaho state brand inspector.

He helped out in the community doing various activities. He especially enjoyed his time spent as chairman of the Minidoka County Fair Board.

He was married to Judy Arlene Hymas, and they had five children. They later divorced, and he married Linda Rae Firth, and they resided in Oakley, Idaho.

Wade loved his family so much. He always made time to be with them and traveled the country to give them support. He was a friend to all and an enemy to none. He was a huge supporter of the community and helped out anyone who needed an extra hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenna and Dean Zollinger; his brother, Lloyd Zollinger; his daughter, JoDean Foreman; and his grandson, Brody Foreman.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Rae Zollinger of Oakley; his children, Shawn (Jill) Zollinger of Burley, Idaho, Jill (Stan) Bitsoi of Rigby, Jackie (Graham) Omoth of Douglas, Wyo., Edward Foreman of Rupert, Idaho, and Jerry (Sara) Zollinger of Oakley; his brothers, Tom (Darla) Zollinger, Dennis (Mary) Zollinger, Ned (Renae) Zollinger and Dean Zollinger, all of Rexburg; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Oakley LDS Stake Center, 355 N. Center Ave. in Oakley, with Bishop Kevin Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Basin Cemetery.
