Elsie Appenzeller, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on March 29, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born in Crested Butte, Colo., on March 15, 1924. She was married to the love of her life, Elmo Appenzeller, on April 26, 1947, and stood lovingly by his side until he passed away on January 19, 1994. She retired from Hartford Insurance in Denver, Colo., in 1988. Elsie has lived in Idaho Falls since 2003. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish in Idaho Falls, and found peace and comfort in God.
Those who were touched by Elsie knew a woman who always voiced her thoughts candidly and passionately.
While she was vigorous in her conversations about the world she lived in, she could never hide the love in her eyes and was well known for her wonder- ful culinary talent, especially at Thanksgiving. Elsie spent days and weeks crocheting for her family, when her fingers would allow, and enjoyed completing puzzles with her daughter in the last years of her life.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jack Peterson of Idaho Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Patzer of Ashville, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Theodore Speros of Denver, Colo.; sister, Beverly Doyle of Denver, Colo.; granddaughter, Crystal Peterson of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, David and Melissa Pratt of Everett, Wash.; grandson, Erik Patzer of Asheville, N.C.; grandson, Mark Pratt of Idaho Falls; grandson, Sean Patzer of Denver, Colo.; grandson, Michael Pratt of Silverdale, Wash.; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She will be laid to rest beside Elmo, whom she has waited for 15 years to reunite with, at the Chapel Hills Cemetery in Littleton, Colo., at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
