Richard H. Ising, 85, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, with his family by his side.
He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of R. Maxmillian and Mary E. Boyd Ising. After attending high school, Rich joined the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Rich received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sacramento State University and later his Master of Business Administration from the University of Idaho.
He married Thelma Louise Kemp on Nov. 29, 1957. Rich worked for Idaho National Laboratory for 33 years until his retirement in 1987. Since his retirement, Rich worked for the AARP in its Tax Aide program for more than 20 years, was active with the Service Corps of Retired Executives for 19 years, served on the Senior Citizens Community board of directors for 18 years and played a lot of golf.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Ising of Idaho Falls; daughter, Patricia McCammon; grandchildren, Brian K. Ising, Tamra J. Martinez and Lyndsay M. Ising; brother, Charles Ising; nieces and nephews, R. Michael Marcks, Steve Marcks, Rosemary Scott, Rita Weyand, Thomas Marcks, Jody Lee and Vickie Laufbaum; and dear friend, David Wang.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bruce and Mark Ising; two brothers, John and Herman Ising; and a sister, Mary Marcks.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at the Sandpiper, 750 Lindsay Blvd. in Idaho Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. The family suggests that donations be given to the Senior Citizens Community Center, 535 W. 21st St., Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
