Earl Jay Stacey, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Morningstar Senior Living Center.

He was born June 23, 1929, in Poplar, Idaho, to James William Stacey and Ora Killian Stacey. He attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On March 14, 1953, he married Clara Irene McGavin in Idaho Falls. He worked at Idaho National Laboratory as a process operator on a number of test reactors.

Jay was a member of Alliance Covenant. He especially loved his family and spending time with the grandchildren. He and his sweetheart shared a life of 61 years of love, dedication and commitment. This example has been a model for the entire Stacey family. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and telling stories about his adventures.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Stacey of Idaho Falls; son, Brent Jay (Sandy) Stacey of Idaho Falls; daughters, Irene (William) Hansen of Roosevelt, Utah, and Janet (Sam) Peterson of Portland, Ore.; brother, Dee Stacey; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Lee William Hansen; a sister, Ida Lindstrom; a brother, Leon Stacey; and sisters-in-law, Blanka Stacey and Marilyn Stacey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Watersprings Calvary Chapel, 4250 S. 25th East, with Pastor Gordon Boyle officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran St., Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
