William "Bill" Wocelka, 90, of St. Anthony, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in the Ashton Living Center.
Bill was born Feb. 5, 1923, at Rice Lake, Wis., the son of William J. and Katherine Blaschko Helle Wocelka. He grew up in Wisconsin where he attended St.
Anthony Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Lincoln High School, both in Park Falls, Wis.
Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, and was an airplane gunner. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
He married Olive Wells; she passed away while he was still in the service. On Apr. 30, 1948, he married Marie Huml Cummings at Park Falls, Wis. In 1967, they moved to St. Anthony, where Bill owned and operated Wocelka Logging until 1987. He also owned the Silver Horse Shoe Cafe for many years. Mary died Feb. 14, 1989. Bill then married LaRena "Rena" Jenkins on Sept. 9, 1990, at Elko, Nev. They made their home in St. Anthony, where they have since resided, spending the winters in Green Valley, Ariz.
Bill is survived by his wife, LaRena of St. Anthony; children, Bill (Ditty) Wocelka Jr. and LaVerne Cummings, both of St. Anthony, and Rosie (Lee) Powell of Idaho Falls; siblings, Robert Wocelka of Hines, Ore., and Rose Dixon of Oceanside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives; a daughter, Shyla Haut; a brother, Ray; and two sisters, Ruth and Margaret.
Burial will be in Parker Cemetery Saturday, June 29, with military rites performed by St. Anthony V.F.W. and the American Legion. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Bidwell Funeral Home before going to the cemetery. Cremation arrangements were handled under the direction of Bidwell Funeral Home.
