Carlyne Ruth Gentry Dunning, 76, of Mountain Home, Idaho, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from natural causes.
Carlyne was born May 23, 1937, in Tecumseh, Okla., to Carl Augustus Gentry and Leona Dunning Gentry. She attended schools and graduated from high school in California.
In 1995, she married Leonard B. Dunning in Bakersfield, Calif. They spent time traveling across the country visiting scenic and historical sites, after which they settled in Mountain Home in 1999. Prior to retirement, Carlyne worked as a bus aide for School District 91.
Carlyne loved attending concerts on the greenbelt in Idaho Falls, participating in American Indian powwows, working on genealogy, water-skiing, seeking out garage sales, dancing and driving fast cars.
Carlyne is survived by her husband, Leonard Dunning of Mountain Home; a daughter, Karla (Troy) Gillis, and a son, Allen Gahagan, both of Idaho Falls; and a daughter, Karen McKinley of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Kenneth (Janet) Gentry and Keith Gentry, both of Mountain Home; three sisters, Gwen (Maurice, deceased) Traylor of Bakersfield, Calif., Margie (Jack) Martinez of San Diego and Jolene (Mike, deceased) McGee of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law, Maurice Traylor and Mike McGee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday prior to services, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery.
