Carolyn Messenger Obituary

Carolyn Jean Owens Messenger, 72, of Iona, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Shelley, to Eugene "Gene" D.

Owens and Loraine Jensen Owens. She was the first of three children, followed by Steve Owens and Ron Owens. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. She continued her education by attending Idaho State College for two more years.

On Sept. 26, 1957, she married Jack A. Messenger in New Sweden. She was a mother and homemaker and also worked as Secretary of Food Services for Bonneville School District for 25 years.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack Messenger of Iona; three sons, Ross Allen (Joyce) Messenger of Kuna, Idaho, Bryan Gene Messenger of Rigby and Mark Lane (Sherrie) Messenger of Inkom, Idaho; brothers, Steve (Cindy) Owens of Island Park and Ron (Jonie) Owens of Elko, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Sherri Messenger.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery at a later date.
