Dorris Meyer Obituary

Dorris Ethel Jones Meyer, 91, of Madison, S.D., passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Beth- el Lutheran Home in Madison.

She was born May 27, 1922, in the old Bybee Ward area in Rigby to Karl Henry Jones and Ethel Kinghorn Jones.

She married Joseph Leland McLing; he passed away Sept. 16, 1966.

Dorris married Jack Warren Meyer Sr. on Oct. 22, 1971. She helped with the war effort during World War II by driving a bus for government employees. She worked as a nurse in Preston, Idaho, and was actively involved in the queen rearing operations of A.H. Meyer & Sons Inc.

Dorris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of various clubs and auxiliaries in Madison, S.D., and Natchez, Miss.

Survivors include her children, Lynn (Sharon) McLing of Preston, Idaho, Jack (Peggy) Meyer of Madison, S.D., Janet (Lorin) Tobler of Tempe, Ariz., Susan (Jay) Barber of Tallahassee, Fla., and Reynold (Michelle) Meyer of Tallahassee, Fla.; one son-in-law, Gary Odell of Idaho Falls; 35 grandchildren; 106 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her brothers, Carlyle and Wendell; and a daughter, Myrna Odell.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Fielding Memorial Cemetary. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the graveside services at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
