Ellen Aurelia Deveraux, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society in Idaho Falls.
Ellen was born in Emmett, Idaho, a daughter to Guy Gladden Harris and Rachel Louisa Lake Harris. She attended Emmett schools.
She married Albert Deveraux in Emmett on Oct. 26, 1934. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 27, 1965.
She was an active member of the LDS church, serving as Primary president and in the Young Women's Mutual Association.
She belonged to the American Business Women's Association. Ellen worked at J.C. Penney in Rigby, the Frock Shop in Rigby, LeVines Dress Shop, Carrolls Dress Shop, Montgomery Ward and at Town and Country Nursery.
Ellen enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, fishing and camping.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Jerry) Parmer of Idaho Falls; stepsons, Wayne Deveraux of Red Bluff, Calif., and Dave (Crystal) Deveraux of St. George, Utah; sister, Gladys Rivers of Dallas, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one stepson, Jay.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the LDS church at 3195 S. Holmes Ave. in Idaho Falls (corner of Sunnyside Road and Holmes Avenue). The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday prior to services, both times at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
