Donna LaFay Chandler, 80, of Blackfoot, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Living Center in Idaho Falls.
Fay was born July 31, 1932, in Victor, Idaho, to Lawrence Dewey and Susannah Allen Fallis. She was raised and educated in the Firth area. She lived for a time in Sterling, Calif., but primarily resided in the Firth /Wapello area.
On Jan. 17, 1948, Fay married Ross Boyd Chandler in Blackfoot. They were blessed with seven children and lived a happy life together.
Fay was a member of the LDS church. Through the years, she worked as a housekeeper/custodian in private homes, as well as Roger Brothers Custodial Services and Bingham Extended Care Facility. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing, gardening, canning, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Chandler of Idaho Falls; four daughters, Donna Walters of Blackfoot, Marilyn Marlow of Quartzsite, Ariz., Marla Chandler of Firth and Shawna (DeRay) Womack of Firth; a brother, Gary (Karen) of Pocatello; four sisters, Ilean Osborne of Idaho Falls, Delna Wright of West Jordan, Utah, Linda Young of Blackfoot and Dixie Kossman of Rupert; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; a son, Boyd; a daughter, Cindy Chandler; two sisters, Joann Branson and Flora Steffler; and three brothers, Ermond, Donald and Dewey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot. A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the service Thursday. Interment will be in Firth Cemetery.
