Frances Skelton Obituary

Frances Skelton, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, in her sleep.

A fourth-generation Idahoan, she was born April 26, 1928, in Idaho Falls to Charles A. and Delia Chriswell Bundte. She graduated in 1946 from Idaho Falls High School, where she was active in drama, music and pep clubs.

She married Leon Skelton on Feb. 16, 1951, in Elko, Nev.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Idaho Falls throughout her life.

She was one of the original founders of the Bonneville County Museum in 1983, which later became the Museum of Idaho. According to Lindon Bateman, she was "the heart and soul" of obtaining the old public library for the museum by her continual advocating to the City Council.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles "Bill" Bundte.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Leon Skelton; a son, Pat Skelton; two daughters, Lynne Ann Schwarz and Jennifer Starkey; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Ammon Cemetery, with the Rev. Ben Moore officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
