Jerry Keith Reeve Obituary

Jerry Keith Reeve, 77, died peacefully from Parkinson's disease Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Caring Hearts Assisted Living. His wife, Pat, was by his side.

He is survived by Pat; his children, Barbara (Skip) Schmiett, Michael (Amy) and Nicole (Lee) Bradshaw; seven adored grandchildren, Mikaela, Pierce, Sam, Aidan, Dane, Annika and Boden; his sister, Marilyn (Shayne) Dedman; and three nieces, Terri Gazdik, Pam Swarts and Jill Wilson.

Jerry was born to Frances and H.W. "Dusty" Reeve in Idaho Falls on Aug. 21, 1935. He attended the two-room York school, Idaho Falls High School and the University of Idaho.

Jerry met Pat while working on a homecoming float. They married June 11, 1957, after he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. They started their life together in Richmond, Calif., where Jerry worked for Standard Oil Company before he reported to Fort McClellan, Ala., U.S. Army Corp. He was discharged as a first lieutenant.

They moved to Soda Springs, Idaho, where Jerry was a chemical engineer for Monsanto. The family moved to Pocatello in 1979, when they purchased Tyhee Home Center and Jerry built a career in construction and as an environmental engineer.

Jerry always had a project underway at his home in Pocatello and at the Blackfoot Reservoir "ranch." He enjoyed travel and was always ready to go. He loved bowling, fishing, family reunions, time with friends and family and driving his grandchildren around on his tractor. Jerry was past president and a 50-year member of Lions clubs, serving a number of years on the sight and hearing foundation board.

A funeral service conducted by Don Paulson celebrating Jerry's life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 248 N. Arthur Ave. in Pocatello. Internment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls.

Donations may be made in memory of Jerry to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation online at www.support.pdf.org or by phone at (800) 457-6676.

The family would like to express gratitude for the caring services of Cree, Christie and Brittny while Jerry was at home. We also thank Caring Hearts Assisted Living for their generous care during his last months.
