Joanne Bowers Obituary

Joanne Randall Bowers, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Safe Haven Care Center of Pocatello.

Joanne was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Idaho Falls, the twin daughter of Lloyd Franklin Randall and Constance Young Randall. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and then attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Joanne later attended Idaho State University in Pocatello. She was a licensed practical nurse by profession.

In 1949, she married Sidney Allen Bowers. They were married 24 years before divorcing. She later married Richard Joe Clark. They later divorced. Joanne lived in Twin Falls for many years. She was a nurse at the Twin Falls Clinic Hospital for 14 years.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had held various positions over the years.

Joanne loved homemaking, sewing, cooking, oil painting, reading and being with her family.

She is survived by a son, S. Vance Bowers of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Jacalyn Ward of Boise; sisters, Jeane Duke of Idaho Falls, Jeroldeen (Dale) Smith of Nuevo, Calif., and Carol Janice (Larry) Thompson of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a brother, Scott Young (Julie) Randall of Idaho Falls; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Joanne raised a great-granddaughter, Jasey Nelson, who is serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Kay Bowers; her parents; and a sister, Joyce Richardson.

A special thanks to Hands of Hope Hospice in Idaho Falls; Patricia and John Tanner in Pocatello, who cared for Joanne for several months; Safe Haven in Pocatello; her sisters; and her brother. She loved us all and we loved her; we will greatly miss her.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the Woodruff 1st Ward Chapel, with Bishop Kolby Cazier officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
