John Ybarguen Jr.

1942 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
John Ybarguen Jr. Obituary

John Ybarguen Jr., 71, of Riverside, Idaho, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, at his home as a result of a heart attack.

John was born Aug. 25, 1942, in Gooding, Idaho, to John Ybarguen Sr. and Mary Ensunsa Ybarguen. He attended grade school and high school in Gooding. He then continued his education by studying drafting at Idaho State University.

After completing his education, John began working at the INL, where a certain secretary caught his eye, and they became lifetime companions.

He worked at the INL for nearly 40 years, with much of his time spent as a department manager. What John loved most about his job was the association with many who became lifetime friends.

On Sept. 27, 1969, John married his sweetheart, Sheryl Wood, in Thomas, Idaho. They have three children: Michaela, Jeff and Justin.

John was definitely a family man. His greatest joys came from supporting his family. He especially enjoyed when his entire family could be together and went to great lengths to make sure this happened frequently. He enjoyed being involved in anything his kids and grandkids were involved in.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl of Riverside; daughter, Michaela (Dean Glen) Clark of Riverside; sons, John Jeffrey (Candice) Ybarguen and John Justin Ybarguen, both of Idaho Falls; sister, Rita Ann Ybarguen-Ward of Boise; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, March 14, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, and Friday for one hour prior to services, both at Hawker Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Riverside-Thomas Cemetery, with military honors provided by the American Legion Stewart Hoover Post 23.

Condolences may be sent to the family at con dolences@hawkerfuneral home.com.
