Kelly Neil Clay, 59, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Gem Lake, south of Idaho Falls, in a Jet Skiing accident.
Kelly was born Nov. 13, 1952, in Rigby, Idaho, to Cyrus Budge Clay and Nina Ruth Cook Clay. He grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. Kelly lived in Idaho Falls from 1965 to the present.
He married Peggy Smith in Rexburg, and they were later divorced. He married Georgann Iwerks in 1996, and they were later divorced. Kelly owned and operated Clay Excavation.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kelly enjoyed water sports and snowmobiling and, especially, time spent on his Harleys. He always had to have the fastest toys.
Kelly is survived by his son, Kelly (Emma) Clay Jr. of Idaho Falls; daughters, Erin Clay and Melissa Clay, both of Atlanta, Ga.; father, Cyrus Budge (Lois) Clay of Rexburg; brother, Blair (Delpha) Clay of Sugar City; sisters, Sherry (Richard) Fuska of Nashua, N.H., Ronda Rasmussen of Idaho Falls and Michelle (Gary) Hamlin of Washington state; brother, Kevin (Suzette) Clay of Rexburg; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Clay.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the Idaho Falls LDS Willow Creek Ward, 6925 North 15th East in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, Aug. 12, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday before services at the church. Burial will be in Archer-Sutton Cemetery. There will be a tribute motorcycle ride from the services to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Kelly Clay Memorial Fund through any branch of Wells Fargo Bank.
