L.B. (Ren) Kofoed, 97, of Annis, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Weston, Idaho, to Clarence Henry Kofoed and Grace Amelia Baird Kofoed. He graduated high school in Weston and then received his bachelor's degree from Ricks College and master's degree from Utah State University. He served in World War II as an airplane mechanic.
He married Ardis Shaw on May 5, 1946, in Evanston, Wyo. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 11, 1959.
He worked in the Civil Conservation Corps building bridges and roads in Yellowstone National Park. He taught industrial arts in Ashton High School.
He enjoyed jewelry-making, leatherwork, carving and fly tying. He loved to fly-fish and hunt. He worked as a clinical psychologist in private practice and in school systems.
He was an active member of the LDS church, serving as a temple worker and teacher. He held the office of High Priest.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Cory) Jones of Rigby; three sons, Wayne Kofoed of Arlington, Texas, Robert (Terri) Kofoed of Flower Mound, Texas, and Reed (Carmen) Kofoed of Winnemucca, Nev.; one sister, Norma of Parumph, Nev.; a brother, Lyle of Green River, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis, his parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Menan LDS Stake Center, 698 N. 3600 East in Menan. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
