Leah M. Andersen Obituary

Leah Mary Andersen, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living in Idaho Falls.

Leah was born April 14, 1926, in Archer, Idaho, the daughter of Lelen and Martha (Galbraith) Weekes. She grew up in Archer and attended school there. She was a member of the LDS church. On Aug. 26, 1943, she married M.W. "Swede" Andersen in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Leah worked for many years in the retail business in Idaho Falls. She was em-ployed by Sprouse Ritz, the Bon Marche, and Block's Department Store. She was the manager for Ladies Ready to Wear at Block's for several years. She retired in 1984 along with Swede.

They enjoyed camping, hunting, traveling and spending time with family. They loved their time together and taking care of their home in Rigby.

She is survived by her three children, a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Marvalee) Arneson, of Yuma, Ariz.; and two sons, Ed W. (Noreen) Andersen of Firth, Idaho, and Roger M. Andersen of Iona, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Anita Peterson of Rexburg, Idaho, and Mrs. Leroy (Maxine) Hope of Idaho Falls; two brothers, J.R. "Lelen" (Velma) Weekes of Basin, Wyo., and DeVar (Gwen) Weekes of Rexburg; five grandchildren, Jeff R. (Sharon) Arneson, Michael E. (Angela) Arneson, Tracy Anderson, Terri TeNgaio and Adam W. (Summer) Andersen; five great-grandchildren, Jarek Arneson, Rachel Arneson, Dylan Arneson, Kai TeNgaio and Kenzi TeNgaio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Leah was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and five sisters, Clea Briggs, Delpha Beck, Eva Hubbard, Artella Schnieter and Lillian Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
